It’s important to understand the difference between financial planning and purchasing financial products. When constructing a car, companies start with the framework. The frame, the steering column, and the wheels control the car’s direction. The engine provides movement for the vehicle after the framework is built. A financial plan is similar to the vehicle’s framework; financial products are similar to the vehicle’s engine. The engine is essential to move forward, but it won’t accomplish its intended purpose without the structure and guidance a framework provides. As vehicles need to be serviced on a regular basis, financial plans and products need constant review in order to ensure they’re functioning properly.
